Form 09Letter R
Raven
An icon for the afterlife.
It came from Edgar Allan Poe. It has been in the work since Forms from Life and it is the form with the longest life outside the studio: a chair, a rug, a pattern, a pillow. The chair began as a sketch of how birds fold their wings at rest.
“At the time, I was reading a lot of Edgar Allan Poe, and that's where the raven came from, as a beautiful icon for the afterlife.”
“The raven is an icon for the afterlife.”
