A mural for one of Miami's most important community institutions, home to children's programs, performances, dance, and theater. The concept draws from a European tradition dating back to the 1700s, when audiences could purchase small paper versions of a play to take home for their children. Layers of color and shape are stacked to create the feeling of looking inside a performance, each layer getting deeper and darker. Driving down Biscayne Boulevard, the work pulls viewers in almost involuntarily. Hidden throughout are references to performance, history, and life, a piano, a raven, trees, an apple. A visual play meant to be entered rather than simply observed.
