Typoe's Artistic Ode to Miami: The Underline's New Installation
I'm excited to share my newest public art piece under Miami’s Metrorail, a playful installation that captures the spirit of the Memphis Group. This vibrant creation is part of The Underline, a transformative ten-mile park and art project beneath Miami's railway.
In collaboration with EstudioLAAVA, we've created a whimsical sculpture garden in Brickell. It features glossy, colorful shapes forming archways, benches, and cartoon-like flowers on a black-and-white striped floor, all under the watchful eye of a bright yellow orb. These pieces, inspired by children's building blocks, are meant to evoke joy and creativity, drawing influences from art history to nature and the afterlife.
This installation is not just an artistic endeavor but a love letter to Miami, reflecting the city's Art Deco heritage amid bold, postmodern colors and shapes. As The Underline evolves, I hope this piece adds to the vibrant tapestry of Miami's artistic landscape.
