TYPOE Unveils 'Paper Stage (Allegory of Life)' at the Arsht Center

The Adrienne Arsht Center commissioned Miami artist TYPOE to create a large-scale mural on the exterior of its iconic Carnival Tower. The 20-by-30-foot work was officially unveiled on September 13, 2025.

Drawing from 19th-century paper stage models, the mural invites passersby to engage their imagination. It features figures, animals, and abstract forms woven together in a playful dance exploring themes of man, nature, romance, and mystery.

"This project is a very meaningful opportunity to bring my vision to life in a culturally rich space," said TYPOE, a Miami native, hoping visitors will "connect with their own creativity and experience the unique energy of Miami."

This commission caps a year-long partnership between the Arsht and TYPOE. The artist also designed the 2025 Arsht Awards and the Center's holiday card.

Arsht Center president Johann Zietsman called the piece "a remarkable visual on one of Miami's most recognizable buildings," continuing the institution's commitment to public art featuring nationally acclaimed artists.
